Protecting life comes natural to us humans. Yet conserving nature seems hard. The tragedy of common goods applies. Proximity to the impact of our lifestyle on nature is missing. Floods, wildfires, and heavy storms as seen on TV appear to be too far away to cause an emotional impact leading to conscious counter actions. Climate change is perceived to happen too slow to really be noticeable in one’s lifetime. The feeling of each and everyone’s responsibility does not arise.

Consumer goods based on COLIPI oils (#colipioil) are sustainable, yet affordable. Good consumption decisions become easy. End customers do not have to compromise for a more sustainable lifestyle. We move towards a circular economy by contributing to cradle to cradle products. Protecting what you love becomes easy.

Natural Yeast Fermentation

Yeast fermentation, also called "brewing", is a process applied by humans since thousands of years to produce beer, wine, dough, and other common products from renewable raw materials (see right).
COLIPI produces oils.

Renewable Raw Materials

This can be sugars or other plant based carbon sources consisting of carbon that has been previously captured from atmosphere by plants as CO2. Yeasts themselves produce CO2. We have our way to deal with it (see right).
The carbon cycle closes.

There is one more (Secret) thing

While producing oils, proteins, and vitamins, yeasts also exhale CO2. Yet we manage to create an overall carbon neutral process and product. This is novel and contributes to a circular economy.

Potential Applications

Enabling CO2-Neutral Consumer Goods For Sustainable Living

Vegetable Oils

Yeasts can produce a variety of oils (single-cell oils, SCO) resembling naturally occurring vegetable oils such as palm oil or cocoa butter for the cosmetic respectively food industry.

New Oils

Yeasts can produce novel oils with fatty acid compositions designed and tailored to the needs of the cosmetic and food industry.


We apply yeasts naturally rich with the vitamin and antioxidantĀ Ī²-Carotene. This is an important additive to skincare in cosmetic industry and feed stock inĀ aquaculture industry such as fish and shrimp farms.


ProteinsĀ (single-cell protein, SCP)Ā typically constitute to 50% of the weight of yeasts. These proteins are important additives to food, e.g. for vegetarian diet or feed stock.

Transferring Research to Viable and SDG compliant Business

We believe in science. We believe that existing and new tools will contribute to protecting the climate and preserving the nature. Our endeavour will directly pay into following United Nation Sustainable Development Goals:

  • SDG 12Ā Responsible Consumption and Production,
  • SDG 13 Climate Action, and indirectly into
  • SDG 15 Life on Land.
